I'm actually in the process of licensing a certain piece of music for the podcast theme song, and it's taking longer than expected because some of the rights are held in Germany. Meanwhile "Snake," who was a runner-up in the AMW podcast theme comp, has generously provided temporary theme music.

If the licensing doesn't come through I might have another comp.

I know it was always going to be a bit obvious...

I had no idea of that song's history! I had always (like many I suspect) thought it was just another piece written for one of those 50s 60s swingin' crooners.

I actually discovered this while researching The Black Freighter from the Watchmen sound track

Um, progress Matthew? I'm sure you really like the song you're holding out for, but wouldn't a competition be more fun?!

Funnily enough I've just been thinking about that lately -- the last few months it hasn't been the highest of my priorities. The process of licensing music in this country is something of a joke, with an impassable labyrinth of different types of rights to license and no central repository to guide you through it. In short I'm about ready to give up and, if I do, there will indeed be another competition.
